Renovate My Room..

May 12, 2010 2 comments

In the past couple of days I’ve been filtering my room (cleaning my closet and taking out the stuff that I don’t really need).  I have made a few changes and it looks and feels empty unlike before (cluttered with old clothing, paperwork, stuff that I couldn’t let go, etc).  I have then decided to renovate my room.  It has been a couple of years since I changed the look of my room.

I’m into new and modern furniture. I have explored a website you can draw your room into a 3D image, “interior decorating software Furnish lets you create your own piece of furniture on-screen from all our different colours, materials, fronts, armrests, leg designs, tabletops, etc…You can also see how your new piece of furniture will fit and look in your room. Enter the dimensions of your room and start drawing”.  I find this very helpful for people that have less time to look around from shop to shop. I have been going around from place to place such as ID Design, Abyat, IKEA, boconcept… etc to find new and exciting ideas for my room.

This website “boconcept” has given me the chance to have a vision of what I want exactly and what I’m looking for.  Also it has an online catalogue.

You can find the software on:

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions of where i could go and find modern and fun furniture? 🙂

Spiral trampoline ,,,Guggenheim museum

February 9, 2010 2 comments

For those of you who thought that architecture is just about building, this post may be useful for you to see how architecture can go further than just building. And for those other people who know architecture better or architects this will be an interesting thing to know. The famous Frank Lloyd Wright’s Guggenheim museum in new york had this exhibition where the participants shows their conceptual ideas to how to fill the void inside the building. One architect “JDS architects” thought that the idea of having a spiral trampoline net that allow people to bounce from the top floor till the ground could be the funnies thing to have. I agree with them ,, 🙂 what about you?

The Launch of the World’s Tallest Building

January 5, 2010 1 comment

Yesterday 4th of January 2010, Dubai has been opened the world’s tallest building, known as Burj Dubai during construction, and renamed to “Burj Khalifa” after Dubai’s leader friend and neighbor Abu Dhabi.  As most of you know, Dubai was bailed out by Abu Dhabi to help prevent a potential debt disaster in November 2009.  Now the Middle East will mark its presence having the tallest building in the world in Dubai. You can view the opening ceremony on the link below.  Hope you guys enjoy it 😉

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology……..>> nice job

The university is located around 80 Km north of Jeddah designed by HOK. But beside the entire very interesting job, what amazed me as an architect is the fact that HOK employed planers and designers from 10 different offices across the globe with multiple time zones to have the actual designing and planning “literally” a 24-7 job. How it works, well, each HOK office had a 2 hour window to create concepts and ideas for the building and post them on a shared server, leaving this experience to be the ultimate brainstorming session.

Ohh,,, before I leave,,,,,, it’s a mixed gender university  “mo5tala6a”.

Ironic fact, KSA is to be more open and liberated,,>> while Kuwait is to be more and more closed minded .
