• KIT KAT continues to be one of the world’s best selling confectionery brands.
• The 1997 Guinness Book of Records states that 13.2 billion KIT KAT fingers were sold worldwide in 1995 and that every second, 418 KIT KAT fingers are consumed worldwide.
• Every five minutes enough KIT KAT is manufactured to outstack the Eiffel Tower, while one year’s production would stretch around the London underground more than 350 times.
• Launched in 1935 as Chocolate Crisp, KIT KAT was supposedly named after the KitKat Club, an 18th century Whig literacy club. As the building had very low ceilings, it could accomodate only paintings which were wide but not too high. In the art world, such paintings became known as ‘kitkats’. It is therefore conceivable that the humble KIT KAT derived its name from paintings which has to be snapped off to fit into low ceilinged rooms.

Stunning new technology allows parents to hold a life-size model of their unborn child

in the past pregnant women was able to see a flat image of their unborn child. Present technology can provide the women with 3D image. But, tomorrow’s technology in the result of a royal college of art design PHD program has made it to allow the parents to hold a life-size model of their unborn child. The person behind this new adaptation of technology is a Brazilian student Jorge Lopes. The technology can also work as demonstration tool for parents whose babies need some treatments or some kind of urgent surgery. The picture below is for a 12 weeks old baby.

I thought it would look much worse, but actually I found it cool. The company has introduced this USB sunglasses in a way to merge technology with fashion. The glasses are good looking and the best part is that the USB has been nicely hidden in the right arm (it would be much cooler if they put another one in the left arm as well). It is expected to hit the market October 2009 at a price of 199$.

Concept robotic wheelchair,,,

As a part of their semester project, a group of five students at the University of applied arts Esslinger came up with an interesting and very useful concept. A robotic wheelchair that helps the physically impairments to reach up for high objects like in the picture below. Not only that, but they design it in a very beautiful way that give it a futuristic look.

Personally I like the coffee mug. You can measure it yourself in order to have your coffee right every time. And the delete fly killer it’s so nerdy.

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology……..>> nice job

The university is located around 80 Km north of Jeddah designed by HOK. But beside the entire very interesting job, what amazed me as an architect is the fact that HOK employed planers and designers from 10 different offices across the globe with multiple time zones to have the actual designing and planning “literally” a 24-7 job. How it works, well, each HOK office had a 2 hour window to create concepts and ideas for the building and post them on a shared server, leaving this experience to be the ultimate brainstorming session.

Ohh,,, before I leave,,,,,, it’s a mixed gender university  “mo5tala6a”.

Ironic fact, KSA is to be more open and liberated,,>> while Kuwait is to be more and more closed minded .
